We are already planning for the summer holidays of 2013. We are limited by the fact that we only have 3 or 4 weeks to spend, so that determines our radius. South-England or Ireland seems a nice destination to us. And anyway, it never hurts to acquire some experience on the busiest ‘lane’ in the world. Ireland was always attractive to me: the music, the country itself, the people, not to mention the cozy pubs with their bands. Fred and I always find a nice Irish pub somewhere on our holidays. Our favourite one is The Dubliner (http://www.thedubliner.nl) in Enkhuizen. At least once a year we sail there to enjoy the live music of the bands there.
So: Ireland! Through internet we landed on the site http://www.zeilrace-rally.nl/. They organise a sailing-rally from Scheveningen to Cork in 2013. Sailing, a bit of competition, meeting new people, gain experience… that’s what we like to do.
In the spring of 2012 we met Jaap and Jolanda. With them, we sailed together to the Channel Islands in 2012. We had a fantastic holiday and gained two lovable friends! We hope that they can/ will join us again this year, although it’s not certain yet.
In any way, we aim again to have a thrilling time at what is our greatest passion: sailing!
To be sure we can join in the sailingrace-rally, we are going to an information evening
(http://www.zeilrace-rally.nl/index.php/27-nieuws/105-informatie-avond-scheveningen-cork) they organise on Friday the 14th December 2012. After this, we shall see.
In short: to be continued.......
