In March 2019 we crossed the ocean from Cape Verde to the Caribbean (Barbados). During this 21 day sailing trip, I put a bottle overboard. Another bottle had already been found in the Netherlands, but I had thrown it overboard in the North Sea. It always remains exciting where and when a bottle is ever found.

The message in the bottle is rolled up in a waterproof bag. The bottle is a whiskey bottle from Fred that I close with a cork and a layer of lacquer over it (as they used to do) and then the screw cap. And then thumbs up that it does not leak and remains whole!
The message in a bottle
On September 3, 2019 we received a very enthusiastic email from Stephanie (from Canada) and Christopher (from Italy), that they had found my bottle on the island of Anguilla. So the bottle had traveled more than 2,200 nautical miles (about 4,000 km) and was found on the beach. Stephanie and Christopher have been living on the island for some time and have a restaurant by the beach. We will definitely visit these people as soon as we are near the island.
And here's the proof!
The island of Anguilla belongs to the Windward Islands and is located above the island of Sint Maarten. It is not such a big island, only 91 square km.
Who wouldn't want to go to such a beautiful island?
