Of course we have to be well prepared in this ‘area’ too, at least to the extent that you can prepare for something like this. Our dentist is a keen sailor and helps to think about our voyage. In 2015 he already started with attacking a good many problem-areas, teethwise.
I (Caroline) have had a root canal and –treatment and new fillings have been placed.
Fred also had a root-treatment and a new crown. During a check-up appointment, a little piece of his front tooth drops out and the dentist sticks it back into place. I myself have since some time a back tooth that bothers me. The filling is drilled open and a new one is placed.  Hopefully this solves the problem.
We make an appointment for the second half of March to check everything. Alas! I have to come back for yet another treatment, since the “problem-back-tooth” is still a problem. Furthermore there is another back tooth-filling that has a rupture in it. To prevent any trouble during our voyage, our dentist will deal with that one too.
And then, finally…..are we completely ready for it!

Our dentist helps us to assemble an emergency-kit, so we can DIY (Do-it-yourself) at sea!  In any case he is always willing to help us, be it by phone or e-mail, just in case. As he states: ”just send me a picture with your cellphone and I’ll give you advice.” He presents us with a few ampoules with a sedative, some syringes and a manual.
We thank Raf very much for thinking along and for the necessary tools!
